MamynySoa Association’s Commitment to Community Development Through Road Rehabilitation
In the rural community of Isahafa, the headquarters of the MamynySoa Association, roads are more than just paths; they are lifelines. Children use them to reach school, parents walk them to get to work or the market, and families rely on them every day. But during the rainy season, these roads become almost impassable muddy, slippery, and dangerous.
Workers, children are forced to remove their shoes and walk barefoot through the mud just to go to work and to go to school. It’s unsafe, uncomfortable, and puts them at risk of illness or injury.
At MamynySoa Association, we knew we couldn't wait for help to come from elsewhere. With only two months before the heavy rains, we took the initiative to rent a road compactor for two days and improve the most damaged parts of the road. Our goal was simple but urgent: make the road safer, especially for children.
Of course, we didn’t do this alone. The project was carried out in collaboration with the municipality and the local road rehabilitation committee (known as COLIS). Together, we filled the road with debris to level it, then compacted the surface to stabilize it. It was a temporary solution, but it made a real difference.
More Than a Road, A Path to Protection
This road is not just about transportation. It's about access to education, healthcare, safety, and dignity. In rural areas like Isahafa, poor infrastructure affects women and girls the most from pregnant mothers trying to reach clinics, to girls walking long distances to school.
Thanks to the support and encouragement of World Pulse, MamynySoa Association has grown more confident and capable of taking bold steps to protect our community. World Pulse has given us visibility, tools, and connection and helped us realize that local action matters. This initiative is a statement that women’s leadership can transform realities.
More Than Just Education: A Commitment to Community and Sustainability
At MamynySoa Association, our work goes far beyond just providing education. While empowering women, girls, and children through knowledge and skills is central to our mission, we also recognize that true change requires addressing the many challenges that our community faces in daily life. In rural areas like Isahafa, infrastructure, healthcare, and safety are as critical as education.
In our pursuit of comprehensive community development, we take action to improve both the physical and social environment. From road rehabilitation projects to environmental sustainability initiatives, we are dedicated to creating lasting solutions that improve the well-being of everyone in our community. Education is just one part of the equation; ensuring that our roads are passable, our environment is protected, and our women and children feel safe and valued is just as important.
Through collaboration with local partners, MamynySoa is not just fostering knowledge, but also strengthening the community's resilience. We believe that when we invest in infrastructure, leadership, and the empowerment of all members, the entire community can thrive.
